Australian cricket great Carl Rackemann’s sister Suzy allegedly murdered by her son in Brisbane home

The sister of Queensland cricket great Carl Rackemann has been allegedly murdered by her son in a Brisbane home.

Suzy Rackemann, 61, allegedly suffered a critical head injury during a fight with her 29-year-old son Conor Robert Rackemann in an Upper Kedron home on August 17.

She was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, while the young man was charged with grievous bodily harm.

She died from her injuries in the same hospital nine days later.

Conor Rackemann’s charge was upgraded to murder, which police have alleged is a domestic violence offence.

His charge was mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

He remains behind bars ahead of the case’s next mention on November 4.

His occupation in court documents is listed as “disability pensioner”.

Carl Rackemann, a bustling fast bowler, played 12 Tests and 52 one-day internationals for Australia in the 1980s and 90s.

He played for Queensland 102 times in the Sheffield Shield.

He has also worked as a cricket pundit, columnist and coach in his post-playing days.
