Australia reduced to tears by Olympic ‘magic’ between Saya Sakakibara and brother Kai

There were highly emotional scenes after Aussie BMX superstar Saya Sakakibara won her gold medal in Paris … and it has touched the hearts of the world.

Sakakibara won the women’s BMX racing final wearing her brother Kai’s No.77.

After the race there was a magical moment when the brother and sister embraced and posed for cameras.

Kai’s story is well told, with his racing career coming to an end following a brain injury in 2020 that he suffered in a world championship.

And Saya now flies the flag for him.

“She does it’s for both of us. She wears my race No.77. It’s like I’m there with her … Saya and I never give up,” Kai said in a video ahead of the Olympics.

And Saya certainly hasn’t given up, despite a horrific fall in the semi-final of her last Olympics where she was carried away in a stretcher.
