She knows how to make you feel good.
And specifically women! She knows that we want to feel gorgeous, but there’s also a practical reality that no two bodies are alike, and she creates designs that hold us all.
Given this campaign is coming out near the spring, I wanted to ask you a few general spring fashion questions. What are you into fashion-wise this season?
I’m seeing a lost of waistcoats vests in light colored linens, and I couldn’t be happier. They’re really timeless and easy to wear in the summertime. They pair great with a lot of different silhouettes.
Are there any other spring pieces that are going to be your go-tos?
I do love a denim maxi skirt. I also love when you can find a really good shirt dress! I love a shirt dress [because] Manhattan, when it gets hot, is pretty brutal. And I don’t go anywhere without a hat and sunscreen. I keep it very simple. Oh, and I’m very excited that people are pairing skirts with sneakers. I think we’re all much happier and we’ll probably live longer.
Are there any trends, like the sheer trend, that you would embrace?
A transparent pencil skirt! There’s so many gorgeous ones, where it’s a little mini skirt and a transparent overlay. It pairs so beautifully with a plain tank top and a great necklace.
Before you go, I wanted to ask you about the trailer for your new film, The Idea of You. It broke records as the most-watched trailer from a streaming film ever. Did you expect that kind of response?
A part of you always hopes that something you work on will be received as you made it. This one was made with such attention to detail by the most incredible team, led by Michael Showalter. We really calibrated the film to feed an audience that hasn’t been fed in a really long time, and every day, every single choice, we thought about what is something that people can feast on. So to have served up the first amuse-bouche and to watch people enjoy it, it’s sort of the thing that you hope for. Rarely does it go as promisingly as this is going, and it means so much.
