Andy Cohen Shares Regret About Oprah

Andy Cohen is a man of few regrets ― but there’s one in particular that sticks out in his mind.

The “Watch What Happens Live” host spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his 15 years of hosting the late-night Bravo show, and named one question he wishes he hadn’t asked Oprah Winfrey when she appeared on the program in 2013.

“This was a huge moment for me and for the show,” the entertainer said in an interview published last week. “I’m such a fan of Oprah.”

But Cohen said he wishes he hadn’t asked if she had “taken a dip in the lady pond” and named it as “one of my few regrets.”

“It meant so much to me that Oprah Winfrey did the show. It’s gone brilliantly and I turn around and ask her if she’s ever had sex with a woman. I mean, couldn’t I leave it alone?” he said.

Winfrey answered “no” to Cohen’s question, and the Bravo star said she remained “super cool” for the rest of the interview.

Despite things not being “awkward,” according to Cohen, he said that he later heard from Winfrey’s best friend about the inquiry.

“Gayle King told me later that week that Oprah didn’t know what I meant by ‘the lady pond,’” Cohen said. “I thought I explained it pretty well there, but listen, I was so grateful that Oprah did the show, and I still am. That remains, I think, my favorite episode.”

Cohen has expressed his remorse over tossing out the question before, and told Access Hollywood in 2018 that “the second after I said it, I kind of regretted it.”

Winfrey recently spoke out about one of her own career regrets, and apologized in May for being a “steadfast participant” to toxic diet culture.

“Through my platforms, through the magazine, through the talk show for 25 years, through online ― I’ve been a major contributor to it,” the famous interviewer said while hosting the WeightWatchers live special “Making the Shift.”
