What happens when you bring together four esteemed stylists together to create one collection? Moschino’s spring 2024 show. The anniversary celebration, titled “40 Years of Love,” brought together Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Lucia Liu, and Katie Grand; and asked them to draw inspiration from Franco Moschino’s rich archive to create individual mini-collections. They debuted earlier this week in Milan, as four separate acts that together made up the Italian label’s newest offering.
Each reflected the stylists’s unique sensibilities. From Cerf de Dudzeele, a timeless capsule that mixed classic pieces in black and white; from Karefa-Johnson, a “sexy, fun, free, and eclectic” group heavily inspired by the ’90s. Liu, meanwhile, honed in on Moschino’s more romantic side, with lots of lace, puff sleeves, and girly embroideries; while Grand went straight for the slogans.
“It’s always hard when you go into someone else’s archives,” Grand is seen explaining in the video. “How do you do it justice and not make it too reverential?” And so closing out the show were Grand’s sweatshirts and t-shirts, cheekily emblazoned with the words “Loud Luxury !”
Watch below as Cerf de Dudzeele, Karefa-Johnson, Liu, and Grand take you behind-the-scenes at the makings of the Moschino spring 2024 show.
