American Pie star Tara Reid unrecognisable in new photos amid ‘very personal’ revelation

American Pie star Tara Reid has shot down rumours that she has an eating disorder in a new magazine interview.

The actress, 47, has been plagued by gossip that she has anorexia and bulimia after red carpet appearances in recent years where she looks rake-thin.

But in a “very personal” interview with the Los Angeles Inquisitor, Reid denied the rumours.

“I have no anorexia and never have,” she said.

“And I definitely don’t have any bulimia.

“I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen.

“And I love food too much.”

In the magazine photoshoot, Reid looked virtually unrecognisable from her younger days.

Looking sleek and wearing designer fashion, heavy makeup and catseye sunglasses, the Josie and the Pussycats star looked much younger than 47.

“Anyone that says I’m anorexic or bulimic, they’re wrong. So stop it. Leave me alone,” Reid told The New York Inquisitor.

“Pick on me again on something else, but not on those two things. It’s not right.”

Reid said the persistent chatter about her weight was a form of bullying that had left her in a “dark place”.

She recently appeared in the TV show Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, which is similar to SAS Australia, in order to confront some of the “issues” from her past.

“I thought if I could do this, try this, maybe I can get over some of the things that I have, like, the darkness inside of me,” she revealed.

“And a lot of it’s about bullying.”

She ended up being the first competitor to leave the show, but said she had no regrets.

“I’m so glad I did it because it really did help me,” she said.

“It made me learn my strength, my mental strength, my inner strength – not necessarily my physical strength.

“But I learned a lot about myself, and I came back feeling like a better person.”

Reid said it was difficult to navigate social media when complete strangers were suggesting she had an eating disorder or even, in one case, Bell’s palsy, a type of facial paralysis.

“That’s just my smile,” she said, noting that the Bell’s rumour emerged after the first American Pie film.

“I smile a little bit more on one side than the other. I am known for it.

“So there’s no Bell’s. That’s ridiculous. You know, that’s the silliest thing.

“And so now just think, okay, all these people are saying these things, but I wonder what you look like behind the camera?

“You know, what are you doing? And would you like to be picked on like that?

“Because it’s not fair.

“And I guarantee they would hate it if they got one comment.”
