Amanda Holden issues important statement after ‘nagging’ co-star before cancer discovery | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Heart Radio presenter Amanda Holden has urged listeners who may be concerned about a health issue to get checked out, following her co-star Jamie Theakston’s cancer news.

Over on Instagram today, Jamie, 53, announced that he had been diagnosed with stage one Laryngeal cancer after doctors conducted a biopsy on a lesion found on his vocal cords.

Speaking on Heart Breakfast this morning, Amanda, 53, and Jamie’s stand-in host JK, 49, paid tribute to their co-star and read out supportive messages from listeners.

“I know he’s listening today so I know he’ll take great comfort in this,” the Britain’s Got Talent judge shared.

JK went on to say to Amanda: “Also, can I just say that Jamie would like to thank you, because you showed some concerns on text for his voice.”

Agreeing she was worried, she replied: “You prompted him, that, and his wife nagging.

“You know what boys are like they never seem to want to go the doctors.

“My husband is the same, he sends us all off to the doctors, he never goes himself.”

Issuing an important message following Jamie’s news, she added: “If there is anything bothering you at the moment, I think that’ll be the message that Jamie would want to get across.

“If there is anything you’re bothered about, anything that doesn’t feel right, don’t be scared, get it sorted out.”

JK went on to say that Jamie’s prognosis was “very positive” and that he has “an amazing team” who were looking after him.

“He’s going to be okay, he’s hoping to be back with us very soon,” he added.

“You know what Jamie’s like as well, Jamie has been on this show for 20 years. He’s done this show for a long time. This show is all about feel good, it’s all about having a good time.

“It’s making sure that you go to work, or whatever you’re doing in the morning, going there with a smile and he does not want that to change.”

In a statement shared on his socials, Jamie said he is hoping to be back on the airwaves in October.

He added: “Until then, I’ve been told to give my voice a rest and leave you in the mostly capable hands of JK and Amanda.

“Huge thanks to them and the Global Family who have been unbelievably supportive.

“Be thankful for this day, and when I see you next, I’ll have a great story to tell… Jamie x”
