And with that launch comes the leadership of an editor in chief who reflects the beauty expertise and passion of the legacy she joins.
Rissa Mananquil Trillo has been named editor in chief of Allure Philippines; she brings with her a list of accomplishments that bolster her spot at the helm of the title. A Philippines native, Trillo attended both the Asian Institute of Management and the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. In addition to being a columnist for The Philippine Star, she was president of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) for five years, has served as a gender equality advocate with the United Nations, and wrote a best-selling book, Read My Lips: What It Takes to Be a World-Class Homegrown Brand. In 2017, Trillo was named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2017 by EOY Philippines, and in 2021 her contributions to beauty and fashion earned her an Asia’s Most Influential title from Tatler.
Needless to say, Trillo’s achievements make her uncommonly qualified to lead a magazine, but it’s her vision that makes her an especially perfect fit for Allure‘s newest edition.
“The beauty landscape in the Philippines is thriving, with consumer interest growing exponentially, thanks to technology making everything accessible. With just a tap on our phones, we can learn about every beauty product imaginable,” Trillo tells Allure. “However, the sheer volume of content has caused an ‘infodemic’ in the local beauty industry, where misinformation spreads as quickly as the latest trend.” It’s an issue beauty consumers everywhere can relate to, and Trillo wants to guide Filipino readers to an undoubtedly reliable source.
