Acura Sold 5 NSX Supercars In 2023, And There’s Still A Few Left For Sale

When a vehicle goes out of production, some may think that that means it’s done completely. That’s not the case, though, depending on the model. Dodge Challenger and Charger production just ended, but there are thousands of new ones left on dealer lots. Some cars still sell years after their production ended; Chrysler reported selling a single 200 sedan in Q2 of 2023 more than six years after its production ended.

Automakers are slowly trickling out their final sales reports for 2023, and one of the more interesting reports comes to us by way of Acura. The brand reported a 42% increase in sales in 2023 thanks to vehicles like the Integra and MDX. More interestingly, the NSX supercar managed to find five buyers in 2023, despite production ending in November 2022. That result of five sales is down over 98% from 2022 when 298 were sold; of those five, three were sold in January 2023, while one each were sold in February and March.

If you missed the chance to own one of the 600-horsepower all-wheel-drive hybrid supercars, you’re not entirely out of luck. The second-generation NSX always was a slow seller. Many were turned off by its badge, $170k+ asking price and hybrid setup, and because of this many sat unsold at dealers – and some are apparently still sitting.

There are a handful of brand new 2022 NSX Type S still sitting at their respective dealerships, as noticed by Motor1. An Acura dealer in Alhambra, California has a new white on red 2022 NSX Type S that’s for sale at $188,494, and while it’s not listed on its site anymore, Tim Smith Acura in Fort Walton Beach, Florida had an orange NSX Type S listed for sale for $349,000. With a markup like that, I can see why it sat for so long.

A new NSX might be coming. Acura vice president Jon Ikeda told MotorTrend in late 2021 that the company does an NSX when it has “something to say,” and back in August 2023 the brand released shadowy teasers of what looks like an electric supercar concept.
