Driving in snow can be a blast, sliding around through low-traction streets like you’re James Deane, but commuting in it can be a slog. If only there was a vehicle that could make your winter commute fun — say, something with treads, skids, and a supercharged Chevy 350 right behind your head.
This custom snowmobile may look like a top fuel dragster at first glance, but the eagle-eyed among you may notice it’s lacking in wheels up front and has a few too many out back. The chassis comes from Mike Bos Chassis Craft out of Tennessee, maker of genuine roadgoing dragsters, but it’s finished off with snowmobile parts from Polaris. Is this the ideal way to go fast on snow or ice? Almost certainly not. Does it rock anyway? Absolutely.
Of course, the dragster doesn’t really need to be the fastest, because that’s not what it’s about. Instead, it’s meant as promotion for Bob Weaver Motorsports out in North Tonawanda, New York, outside of Buffalo. Bob Weaver was actually very nearly the site of my first-ever motorcycle purchase, until a used Yamaha R3 in their inventory sold before I could get a U-Haul trailer, but they did still sell me on a pair of Alpinestars gloves that never fit right. If you ever see Andy in black moto gloves in a review video, they came from Bob Weaver.
The dragster was bid to $11,500 on Bring A Trailer, but didn’t meet reserve at that price. You may still be able to get your hands on it if you ask around outside of Buffalo — and you should. Take this to work through the winter, and never suffer a slog of a snowy commute again.
