Fox News tried as hard as they could to make Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) look bad on Tuesday only to make him seem more appealing in the process.
A few hours after Vice President Kamala Harris announced Walz as her running mate for the 2024 election, the Trump campaign tried to stoke the GOP base by claiming the Minnesota governor would “unleash HELL ON EARTH,” only to be mocked on social media for the fiery hyperbole.
Fox News personality and former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tried to help the GOP’s fearless leader after the announcement, first by telling Fox News hosts that there was probably “a lot of cheering at Mar-a-Lago” over Walz’s nomination.
Later, she introduced an 80-second supercut designed to make Walz look as bad as possible to the network’s viewers.
First, she pointed out that one of Walz’s first acts as governor was to promote DEI, a term meaning “diversity, equity and inclusion” that many conservatives have used pejoratively.
McEnany also falsely stated that Walz wanted open borders by showing a clip from a CNN interview where he pointed out the folly of building a border wall.
“If it’s 25 feet, than I’ll invest in a 30-foot ladder factory,” he jokingly told Anderson Cooper late last month.
She also pointed out that Walz once said that one’s person socialism is another person’s neighborliness and signed bills protecting gender-affirming care in his state.
You can see the complete supercut below, but spoiler alert: You may be triggered if you are not used to a politician taking responsibility for their own mistakes.
Although the purpose of the supercut was to make Walz look bad, many people on social media had the opposite reaction.
