Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s recent criticism of Kamala Harris for hugging people is not getting such a warm embrace on social media.
During the Friday episode of Ingraham’s show, “The Ingraham Angle,” the host repeatedly attacked Harris’ qualifications, calling the vice president “unserious.” She also critiqued Harris’ laughter, echoing a dig GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and conservative media figures have made for years.
Ingraham then slammed a speech Harris gave at the 2022 Munich Security Conference, days before Russia invaded Ukraine.
“Her brilliance about topics like Ukraine — it’s just too much for most mortals to digest,” the Fox news host mockingly said, before a clip of Harris’ speech warning repeatedly of “war in Europe” played.
“It’s better for her to stay in her sweet spot, as the hugger-in-chief,” Ingraham continued.
The program then rolled a compilation of Harris embracing people. One clip showed the vice president hugging Bill and Hilary Clinton onstage before she delivered a eulogy for the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) at a memorial service on Thursday.
Elsewhere in the broadcast, Ingraham said Harris, who has secured enough Democratic delegates to become the party’s nominee, has “no experience” to become president.
“But she feels, and she laughs, and she hugs,” Ingraham scoffed.
Some people on X, formerly Twitter, have since mocked Ingraham for using clips of Harris embracing people as a line of attack.
“Showing compassion and empathy is a bad thing in their book,” one Twitter user wrote.
“The fact is; hugging, laughing and being herself, is her superpower. Stark contrast to the grumpy, pompous, cruel, nagging one,” wrote another.
Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, was similarly mocked online last month when he dubbed Harris “Laughing Kamala” at a campaign rally in Michigan.
