The assault left Shehorn with injuries to her arms, neck and abdomen.
“I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened. That wasn’t a pretty sight,” Christine added.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Shehorn’s medical expenses.
Her friends revealed on the fundraising platform that authorities have apprehended her alleged attacker who was “trying to flee the country” via Texas.
KTLA reported that Shehorn had recently filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend. The Los Angeles Times also reported that she has been a victim of domestic violence.
The fundraiser was set up by her friends Emily MacDonald and Jed Dornoff, who said in the description that it was Allie’s ex who allegedly perpetrated the attack.
“I come to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for help for someone very dear to me, my friend Allie,” they wrote, “Recently, she faced a horrific and senseless act of violence.”
Her friends continued: “As a result, Allie is now in the hospital fighting for her life.”
The GoFundMe has raised over $87,800 (about £69,100) of their $100,000 (£78,000) goal.
After the attack, Allie has undergone three separate surgeries.
She has been moved out of the intensive care unit since and has “still a very long road but she is facing it with courage and determination.”
