Fergie wowed in canary dress for Ascot races – John Lewis lookalike

Royal Ascot is one of the most glamorous events in the racing calendar for Royal women and members of the public alike.

Each year race-goers debut the boldest colour combinations and fascinators, as the former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, has done on several occasions.

Better known as Fergie to many, the 64-year-old’s look on day four of Royal Ascot in 2019 comprised a gorgeous satin midi dress, feathered green hat and Gucci clutch bag to match.

Fergie’s velvet Gucci bag alone cost upwards of £1,340.50 and there’s no doubt that her canary-yellow dress amounted to more.

With Royal Ascot 2024 scheduled to commence on June 18, there are plenty of high street dupes of the Duchess’s on-trend dress available to buy right now.

Fergie’s dress had many notable features including a satin-sheen material, tie-waist detail and a-line wrap silhouette. The midi hemline cut at knee level and the smart v-neck, collared neckline showed just a peek of skin while flattering her curvaceous figure.

Additionally, the rolled-up short sleeves and faux pockets gave the golden-yellow hue of the dress a more casual feel, as did Fergie’s colourful addition of emerald green accessories and purple kitten heels.

While the midi hemline is a must-have for anyone wanting to show off some leg, John Lewis has the perfect alternative design for those looking to cover up their arms and legs a little more.

The Closet London Pleated Wrap Midi Dress in shade Yellow costs a mere £95.00, and is the perfect dress to suit any occasion.

On the John Lewis website, the product description reads: “Be a ray of sunshine on a cold winter’s day in this stunning pleated midi dress in a crisp cotton-blend. Team with a navy blazer for the office, dress up with strappy sandals or wear with a chunky cardigan and trainers for a downtime outfit.”

The dress boasts a pleated midi skirt which cuts off at calf length and a similar sheen finish on the material as the former Duchess of York’s Ascot look.

With a fitted collared shirt top and an a-line silhouette skirt, the garment flatters every figure in all the best places by nipping in the waist and lengthening the torso with the v-neckline.

You don’t have to have Fergie’s signature auburn locks to pull off the bold shade either. The butter-yellow hue is one of the biggest fashion trends this summer, as proclaimed by the likes of Glamour magazine.
