Military personnel saluted the couple as they dined with the Nigerian chief of defence, Christopher Musa.
Fans have expressed different reactions to the footage on X.
“They look so uncomfortable standing there,” one said.
“They look awkward,” another wrote.
“They stood like statues during the performance of God Save the King,” a third said.
But others disagreed.
“They look very respectful, nothing wrong with this footage,” one said.
“Hardest of eye rolls! They have done nothing wrong, they didn’t organise this event,” wrote another.
The three-day tour of Nigeria intends to promote Harry’s Invictus Games — the international sporting event he founded in 2014 to give injured or sick military personnel and veterans the chance to compete, similar to the Paralympics.
The California-based couple were also in the country to champion the mental health of young people impacted by conflicts in the region.
Ahead of the trip to Nigeria, Harry spent three days in the UK, without his wife.
Due to widespread speculation over whether Harry would reunite with his father, King Charles or other members of the royal family, his representative released a statement.
“It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” the spokesperson said.
“The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
Harry and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals in January 2020 and moved to Montecito, California in the US.
The couple gave up their HRH titles and the right to brand as “Sussex Royal”.
