Every weekday the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a “Morning Meeting” livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here’s a recap of Friday’s key moments. 1. U.S. stocks turned higher Friday as investors parsed through more quarterly earnings and new inflation data. Intel shares plunged more than 10% on soft guidance, putting a lid on the Nasdaq . The Fed’s favorite inflation gauge came in a bit lower than estimates for December. Jim Cramer still predicts an economic soft landing but said Friday that Fed Chair Jerome Powell should not cut interest rates in March. “Powell doesn’t wanna be known as the guy who stopped raising too soon,” Jim added. 2. Danaher stock climbed after bioprocessing peer Sartorius posted positive fourth-quarter results on Thursday. Shares of the Club holding were up 5% on Friday. Sartorius reported a more upbeat outlook, with improved bioprocessing revenue in 2024. Management’s remarks are a positive sign that the industry is bottoming and will return to growth this year, thus boosting our portfolio name in the long term. Danaher is slated to post fiscal results next week. To be sure, we expect management to be more conservative when they talk about their 2024 outlook. 3. Palo Alto Networks received a nice price target boost from Evercore ISI. The firm increased the PT to $405 per share from $315 apiece. That represents 19% upside to Thursday’s close. The analysts think Palo Alto is deserving of this kind of premium because it’s a “clean durable growth stock with margin leverage and real cash flow generation.” Evercore surveyed 15 Palo Alto partners, and the results suggest a higher-for-longer demand environment.
