Atari is getting ready to release another classic retro console. Just a few months after the launch of the fantastic Atari 2600+, the company is once again teaming with Plaion to release the Atari 400 Mini. Available exclusively at Amazon, the Atari 400 Mini has a March 28 release date and a £99.99 price tag. You can pre-order the Atari 400 Mini from Amazon ahead of its March launch. According to Atari, the 400 Mini emulates all Atari 8-bit systems, from the 400 through to the 800XL, not to mention the Atari 5200.
Half the size of the original Atari 400, the miniature retro console comes with five USB ports, the ability to rewind games, as well as the option to save your progress.
Needless to say, it has a HDMI port for modern television sets, alongside 50/60Hz compatibility.
It also launches with the new CXSTICK, which is described as “an enhanced, updated recreation of the iconic CX40 Atari joystick”.
The new and improved joystick features additional function buttons and USB, making it compatible with other platforms.

In terms of games, the 400 Mini contains 25 classics, including Berzerk, Boulder Dash, Capture the Flag, Lee, Millipede and Miner 2049er.
That’s on top of the excellent Missile Command, as well as M.U.L.E, Star Raiders II and Yoomp.
Interestingly, users will also have the ability to side load games with a USB flash drive. It also supports cartridges, disks and cassette ROMs.
Retro Games Ltd managing director Paul Andrews said: “We have a rich history in creating re-imagined, iconic home computers, and we very much hope that THE400 Mini will become an important part of that legacy.
“The original home computer was a gaming hero to many, and it’s important to us to re-create the machines that helped define the video games industry and are thus worthy of preservation.
“We believe that serious collectors and retro gaming fans will love what we’ve done, and should take the time to discover the odd Easter Egg or two as they embark upon a journey into 1970s and 1980s gaming.”
