Emily Ratajkowski continued her furry coat obsession in New York this morning, making the sidewalk her catwalk by sporting what is, by our count, her sixth fuzzy outerwear outing of the season.
What we love about Ratajkowski is that she actually wears her clothes—as in, she’s happy to dig old favorites out of her closet. Not a wild concept, for most of us, but so many celebs rely on newness to make a fashion statement. Not Ratajkowski. And when circumstances permit someone to own (at minimum) six furry coats, each presumably worth thousands of dollars, it’s heartening to see them reworn again and again. Her appreciation for this plaid, white fur-trimmed Prada coat from the fall 2017 collection is particularly palpable.
In January 2018, she leaned into ’70s flair, pairing the autumnal coat with a pair of brown suede kick-flair pants and red stiletto booties. Looking like a character from American Hustle, she played up the accessories, wearing large gold hoop earrings, which matched the buckle and chain of her black Prada crossbody purse. This time around, EmRata dressed the statement coat down, juxtaposing the funky outerwear with a pair of black pants and chunky black sneakers. She also wore a pair of wire-rimmed eyeglasses.
As the role of overconsumption continues to feature heavily in discussions of sustainability, it’s great to see people like Emily Ratajkowski leading by example and giving some love to old pieces.
