A Queensland mother has pleaded for help after school kids snubbed her son’s birthday party because he is vegan.
Angel Craine, 27, from Redcliffe, handed out birthday party invitations for her four-year-old son’s birthday party two weeks ago, but received no RSVPs after children at Malachi’s school began bullying him for having a “no cow” — or no dairy — cake.
“They’ve all bullied him and told him they aren’t coming unless he has cow in his cake,” Craine told 7NEWS.com.au.

She explained that they had planned to make a chocolate vegan cake for her son Malachi’s Pokémon-themed birthday party at the end of October.
“I just can’t get over that kids his age already bully vegans,” she said.
“(Malachi) was pretty sad that no one wants to be his friend or come (to his party) but he’s pretty resilient.”
Craine posted to the Vegans in Australia Facebook group to share her experience and ask for help from local vegans with children in her area.
“My four-year-old son seems to get bullied a lot for being vegan,” she wrote on the page.
“Apparently none of his friends want to come to his birthday if he has a vegan cake and are always being rude about him being vegan all the time.
“So I’m wondering if there are any people around northside of Brisbane with vegan children that would like to come to his fifth birthday.”
Craine says she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support she received from the post, saying 12 children of group members are now expected to attend Malachi’s birthday party — and those who live too far away have begun sending cards and gifts.
“He’s super excited to make friends with similar interests and ethics,” she said.
“I absolutely am in awe of how caring the vegan community is.”
While Craine said she was saddened Malachi was bullied, she is also proud of her son for standing up for himself and not backing down on what he believes in, adding both her and Malachi were vegans for ethical reasons and because they “both love animals”.
“I just believe it’s always good to stand up for those who don’t have a voice,” she said.
“I am proud my son doesn’t let the bullies get to him so much and is still so passionate about being vegan and loving animals.”
