Cate Blanchett Doubles Down—Literally—On the Canadian Tuxedo

Milan Fashion Week was absolutely filled with celebrities. From Emma Watson at Prada to Daria Werbowy at Gucci, everyone turned out to support their favorite Italian fashion houses. Among the star-studded attendees was Cate Blanchett, who made an appearance at Giorgio Armani’s spring 2024 show.

Sitting front row, Blanchett wore a beaded jumpsuit with a plunging v-neck and cape from Armani Privé’s fall 2009 collection, but walking around Milan she wore not one but two versions of a Canadian tuxedo.

Her first featured a denim double-breasted blazer complete with gold buttons and a pair of wide legged jeans. The look, which she wore for a post-Armani jaunt around town, was accessorized with a pair of dark, square lenses and a pearl bracelet. Blanchett, who opted not to wear anything under her blazer, kept the look cool and casual with a pair of sneakers.

The day prior, she put another, more formal spin on the Canadian tuxedo. The Academy Award-winning actor arrived at her hotel in Milan wearing a dark-wash three-piece denim suit, with tailored trousers, a double-breasted blazer, and a trench coat. Both jackets were trimmed with brown leather. Underneath her blazer she wore a white button-up, and wore a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses and white sneakers.

It’s clear that with her newfound interest in double denim, Blanchett has left her Lydia Tár era. Perhaps she can test out jean pantaboots next.
