Pilot seriously injured in outback plane crash in near SA/NSW border

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a light plane crash in South Australia’s northeast.

Police say the plane came down on a property at Mulyungarie, near the NSW border, on Wednesday evening.

The pilot, Dean Lovis-Hotchin, 47, was the only person on board.

He was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The father is highly respected in the farming industry.

7NEWS understands he underwent emergency surgery and his injuries will have life-changing consequences.

Recreational Aviation Australia, the peak body responsible for administering ultralight, recreational and light sport aircraft, has been notified about the crash.

An investigation is underway into what went wrong.
