Watch: Worthy gives Chiefs spark with 10-yard TD vs. Bills

During the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills made a trade that included rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy. He could make the Bills regret the deal in Sunday’s road game.

With the Bills leading 6-0 early in the second quarter, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Worthy on a 1st-and-goal. The Texas product had four receptions on the 11-play, 88-yard drive, including the score.

In April, the Chiefs dealt a first-rounder, third-rounder and seventh-rounder to the Bills to move up to No. 28 and select Worthy.

Thus far, he has looked like a rookie but has flashed potential. He logged 20 receptions for 246 yards and three touchdown catches through his first nine games.

Mahomes recently indicated Worthy could break out in the second half of the season if they connect on more deep passes.

“You see those steady progressions each and every week,” the QB said of Worthy, via The Kansas City Star’s Jesse Newell. “And I think in the long run, it’s going to really pay off, because he is getting open.”

At the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Worthy broke the 40-yard dash record (4.21). Maximizing his speed is smart, as it should make K.C.’s passing attack more explosive.
