Reward of $1 million on offer for information on unsolved murder of Prabha Arun Kumar in Western Sydney

A $1 million reward has been offered for information about the unsolved murder of a woman as she was walking home in Western Sydney almost 10 years ago.

Prabha Arun Kumar, 31, was walking home about 9.30pm on Saturday March 7 2015, after catching a train to Parramatta Railway Station on her way home from work in Rhodes.

As she spoke to her husband on the phone while she walked home, she was stabbed in Parramatta Park.

Emergency services attended, but they were unable to save Prabha, and she died from her injuries.

A crime scene was established.

Strike Force Marcoala was launched to investigate the murder.

A year later in 2016, on what would have been Prabha’s 42nd birthday, her husband Arun told 7NEWS he missed his wife dearly.

“She was very caring … and loving,” he said.

“I miss my wife a lot.”

Now, almost 10 years on, NSW Police are appealing for new information into the murder.

A $1 million reward has been announced for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Prabha’s murder.

“During the investigation, strike force detectives have pursued multiple lines of inquiries and made several public appeals for information; however, the case remains unsolved,” they said on Monday.

Police are expected to address the media on Monday morning.
