Lakers’ upcoming plans for Bronny James allow for big reunion

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James made his NBA debut on Tuesday during the team’s season-opening win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Now, the Lakers have reportedly crafted a plan for how the 20-year-old guard will spend the early portion of his career.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Shams Charania reported on Friday that the USC product is expected to travel with his dad (four-time MVP LeBron James) and the rest of his teammates on their upcoming road trip from Oct. 28-Nov. 6 and then begin “shuttling between the active roster and the franchise’s South Bay G League affiliate.”

Notably, the five-game road swing will include a contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

King James was selected by the Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the stacked 2003 NBA Draft and spent 11 of his first 15 seasons in the league with the team. Not only that but the league’s all-time leading scorer was also born in Akron, Ohio, which is near Cleveland.

Bronny was born on October 6, 2004, in Akron, just before his father’s second NBA campaign. LBJ spent his first seven seasons with the Cavaliers before playing four years with the Miami Heat and returning to Cleveland from 2015-18.

The G League draft is Saturday and team training camps run through Nov. 7.
