Gun seized as two teens busted for auto theft in North York

An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy face charges after a stolen vehicle investigation in North York led to the seizure of a loaded handgun.

Toronto Police say officers from 33 Division and the Major Crime Unit commenced an investigation into a stolen vehicle in the area of Leslie St. and York Mills Rd. around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

“It is alleged that a man and a youth were driving a stolen vehicle with fake licence plates,” Const. Ashley Visser said in a statement released Saturday.

“Officers approached the vehicle, and arrested the man,” she said. “The youth was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Visser said “a loaded firearm” was allegedly found when officers searched the man.

The two suspects were arrested.

Zidane Kirkpatrick, 18, of Toronto, and a 15-year-old boy who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act are charged with an assortment of related offences.
