A husband and wife, both aged 57, were in the van and were also declared dead at the scene.
The ute and a van collided about 9.20pm on Friday, with NSW Police Inspector Rob Bevern confirming all four people killed were from the state’s Central West region.
The 23-year-old driver of the ute was the sole survivor of the crash, escaping with suspected leg injuries.
Tributes for Urban and Jacobs have been flowing online, with Urban’s sister posting a photo of the pair, saying he was the “best brother a sister could ask for”.
“I love you so incredibly much, you will be missed by so many,” she said.
“I will drink a few Toohey’s for you.”
A friend of the two boys posted that they were “two of the best blokes anyone could ask for”.
“Rest easy boys”
“RIP forever,” said another.
“Going to miss you.”
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the accident, which occurred just hours into school holidays, prompting a plea from police.
“Please, drive to the conditions, drive to the speed limit and don’t die for a deadline,” Bevern said.
249 people have been killed on the state’s roads this year.
