Faulconbridge, Blue Mountains deaths: Woman arrested after two children found dead in NSW home

A woman has been arrested after a father found his two sons dead in a New South Wales home.

Police were called to an address on Chapman Parade in Faulconbridge about 12.40pm on Tuesday due to concern for the welfare of a woman and two children.

The bodies of two boys, aged nine and 11, were found inside the home by a relative, police confirmed.

Superintendent John Nelson told reporters it was a “very tragic scene”.

“At this stage, the father is helping with our inquiries, so he is the one who has contacted our police,” he said.

A 42-year-old woman was taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard in a stable condition.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community.

A “thorough” police investigation is underway, Police Commissioner Karen Webb said in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Mayor of the Blue Mountains Mark Greenhill said his community “lost two precious souls in the most awful circumstances”.

“Now is a time to come together and remember these two beautiful children and their extended family, whose grief must be as unimaginable,” he said.
