2 people hurt after Hwy. 401 crash involving transport truck

Two people were hurt, including one in critical condition, after a collision involving a transport truck on Hwy. 401 in Whitby early Sunday morning.

The OPP said the crash happened at 3:25 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway at Courtice Rd.

Police said the passenger of the car was taken to a Toronto trauma centre in critical condition, while the driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. They said the driver of the transport truck wasn’t hurt.

Police closed the westbound lanes of the highway Sunday morning for the investigation. The lanes had reopened before noon.
