The theme park experience is different to the board game as you cannot play in the traditional way and instead participate in Monopoly-themed games to win money.

Those who play can “Go To Jail” and have to crack a series of codes on a screen in the cell to get out.

There are property deeds for collection that are unique to Melbourne including the MCG and Brighton Bathing Boxes and a classic tram where players can hop on board and watch the 4D cinema.

Players also have a minute countdown to make it through a laser maze or try to catch flying Monopoly money in a room blasting air.

The Melbourne Monopoly Dreams is about twice as large as the original theme park in Hong Kong and cost $20 million to create.

“It’s money well spent. We’re planning on about half a million people throughout the year,” Mark Connolly from Monopoly Dreams told 7NEWS.

Tickets are $49.50 for those aged 16 and older, $38.50 for children aged 3 to 5 and $42.50 for concession.

Children younger than two are free but still require a ticket for the venue to monitor capacity.
