Woman rushed to hospital after stabbing in Sydney’s eastern suburbs

A woman in her 40s was allegedly stabbed multiple times in the head and upper body after an argument outside a unit block in Sydney’s eastern suburbs at 4.30pm on Wednesday.

The alleged the attacker was tackled to the ground by a group of bystanders as he attempted to flee.

The woman was treated by NSW paramedics outside the Randwick unit block on Frenchman’s Rd, before she was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Police have been told the woman was involved in an argument with a man known to her before he allegedly stabbed her,” NSW Police said.

The alleged attacker, a 25-year-old man, was pinned to the ground by the bystanders who tackled him, and was held there until police arrived at the scene.

He was arrested and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard as a precaution.

“Roberts Avenue has been closed; motorists and members of the public are advised to avoid the area,” NSW Police said.

“Multiple crime scenes have been established in the area, which continue to be forensically examined.”

Investigations are ongoing.
