Also seen on the cover was Princess Mary and Princess Anne, with the headline, “Princess Anne’s first holiday in 17 years,” visible.

“Look!! Four princesses on the cover of New Idea,” Larry’s Instagram caption began.

“This ‘WAR’ s*** has been brewing for a long, long time, it started 30 years ago when Eddie and I were drinking heavily at The Saloon bar in Melbourne, it was my shout and I did a runner so this was always going to ‘explode’ one day.

“There’s only one way to end this, I challenge Eddie to a cage fight 👊👊👊👊but more importantly huge congrats to Princess Anne on your first holiday in 17 years ❤️.”

Friends and followers of the TV star took to the comments to react to the hilarious message.

“😂😂😂 perfect 👏👏👏,” TV personality Tim Robards wrote.

Reality TV host Osher Gunsberg added, “He’s got you on size, but you fight grubby. My money is on you Laz”.

AGT judge Shane Jacobson said, “This is my favourite post of yours ever … and that’s saying a LOT. I laughed too much when I read your comment … way too much for a grown-up.”

“Laz, Ed grew up in the mean streets of Broady! Be careful brother!” Channel 7 newsreader Mike Amor added.

Larry has been the host of the hit Channel 7 quiz show since February 2021 after working on game shows The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune.

In May 2023, The Chase was announced as the No.1 entertainment show in Australia.

Oztam figures showed The Chase Australia at 5pm had a total audience of 543,000, ahead of Nine’s Millionaire Hot Seat at 380,000 and 10’s The Project with 413,000, which airs later in the evening.

To celebrate the win, Larry shared to Instagram a photo of a very young viewer glued to the TV watching “chaser” Anne Hegerty, known as the slightly intimidating “Governess”.

“Turns out The Governess is a wonderful babysitter 🤣,” Larry joked, adding, “There are a few words I never thought I’d see in the same sentence 🤷‍♂️.”

“Thanks Courtney for sending me this great pic of Piper and thank you everyone else for making The Chase the No.1 entertainment show in Australia last night.

“We had a bigger audience between 5-6pm than the big dogs in prime time. That makes me a very proud old game show host bimbo. Thank you.”
