The band was due to play in the UK cities of Manchester, Bristol, London, Cambridge, and Leeds, with the tour set to conclude on December 1.

He was rushed to hospital “minutes before doors opened in Nottingham,” according to a statement on the band’s Instagram on Wednesday.

“He is still in there and has been strongly advised by doctors to not attempt to do the shows this week.”

They went on to say: “We are all heartbroken about this — the shows on this run really have been our best ever — but obviously health comes first. Please send your love and get wells to one of the best to ever do it.”

In a heartfelt statement to fans, Morrison, 41, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, singling out his bandmates, loved ones, friends, and NHS hospital staff for their care.

Although he did not disclose specifics about his medical episode, Morrison reassured fans that he was expected to make a full recovery.

“It’s been the craziest couple of days of my life, and certainly not the crazy I am used to,” Morrison said in an Instagram post on Thursday morning.

“I want to apologise to anyone who bought tickets; I will make this up to you in the ferocity of my vibrations when we return.

“I promise you are the only reason I am currently not in my ‘happy place’ with you all is because the doctors were adamant I am a maniac for even considering this to be an option.”

The drummer recounted the surreal moments leading up to his hospitalisation, including his bandmates Hugo, Felix, and Will White rallying around him.

“Hugo took me to the hospital with Tall Matt, our sound engineer, who drove to the hozzy at Lewis Hamilton-level speeds. Felix was already there.

“A memory I will never forget is Hugo, Felix and I having a 3/4 band meeting immersed in the organised chaos of the hospital hallway where we decided how to make our next album, the image of this discussion as I lay in the hospital bed was and still is hilarious to me.

“I will never forget it.”

Morrison reserved special thanks for the NHS team in Nottingham.

“I arrived in a pain I never knew existed, with pure terror running through me,” he wrote. “Doctors and nurses like Rachel, Ian, Maz, Mohamed, Chelsea, and Maria soothed my fears.

“We’re on a first-name basis now, so don’t be strangers. I’ve seen you work; now I want you to see me work — hit me up!”

Despite the setback, Morrison remained optimistic.

“It’s been a humbling experience.

“I am going to make a full recovery and will spend this time being grateful and acknowledging how lucky I am to be in the same orbit as all of the people I mentioned above.

“Health comes first, but I do feel a sense of responsibility to make this up to you, so when I am able, I will. It will be made up in positive energy, performance and pure vibes.”

Fans across social media have flooded Morrison and 86TVs with messages of support, eagerly awaiting news of his return to the stage.

His bandmate Felix White responded: “Feel like we should record the whole second album in that corridor actually”.

And singer Michael Spence said: “Sending love mate get better soon, even though brief we had a great time I’ll see you again soon there’s no doubt!”
