“I’m a weirdo with (superstitions). I have to sit on the bus in the same place. On the plane, I’m on the same seat. The girls think I’m crazy,” the 29-year-old said in a resurfaced interview with BBC.

Asked about her favourite pre-match food, the striker confessed she always fuelled up on a “spaghetti sandwich”.

“I have the same dinner, same pasta sandwich before the game, but people think it’s disgusting. It’s just plain bolognese pasta in a sandwich,” the Chelsea FC forward said.

When it comes to her sporting gear, Kerr said she never breaks from her habit of wearing the same pair of socks all season long.

“If you ask our equipment manager, I drive him mad,” she said, laughing.

“I check all my socks, can’t have any threads. Just got to be perfection in my socks and I’ve been wearing the same socks every game this season so they’re wearing thin for sure.”

During the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Optus Sport asked the players to share fun facts about their national team.

“Something you don’t know about us… maybe that our current team song is Strawberry Kisses by Nikki Webster,” goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold said.

Defender Clare Polkinghorne shared the go-to dish the Matildas enjoy before every match.

“Matchday minus one, there’s gotta be a lot of spaghetti bolognese – that’s what everyone eats pre-match meal,” Polkinghorne said.

“That’s the secret.”

Asked who was the “funniest” on the team, young gun Mary Fowler said she could think of a “few”.

“I mean I’m going to say Lydia (Williams) makes me laugh a lot but I also laugh a lot at Sam (Kerr),” Fowler said.
