Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is making phone calls to push for the appointment of his daughter-in-law Amaryllis Fox Kennedy to deputy director of the CIA ― while he faces uncertain confirmation as the Health and Human Services secretary, Axios reported Tuesday.
She submitted the eventually published memoir of her life as a CIA spy in 2019 without approval from the organization ― an apparent no-no, NBC reported. And a few former CIA officers claimed some details of “Life Undercover: Coming of Age In The CIA” sounded false, according to the network.
Fox Kennedy perhaps sealed her father-in-law’s support by managing his independent campaign for president. She didn’t escape controversy there either. She got an anonymous dunking-on by former campaign staff members, including one source who blamed her for a mass exodus of workers. Fox Kennedy countered that “Team Kennedy has great folks come and go depending on the needs of each phase of the campaign.”
Kennedy ditched his bid for the White House and endorsed eventual winner Donald Trump, who in turn nominated the vaccine opponent to the Health and Human Services post. Trump encouraged the political scion to “go wild on the medicines.”
RFK Jr. faces a potential uphill battle for Senate confirmation, but Fox Kennedy, who’s apparently vying for the important intelligence post, would require only Trump’s appointment.
Kennedy’s camp did not immediately respond to HuffPost for comment.
