People are only just realising Sudocrem has five clever uses

Sudocrem has been a household name for years and it’s always been known as a nappy cream – but now experts want you to know five other ways to use the cream on adults. Other than treating nappy rash, Sudocrem is a versatile hero that can be used on the whole family and they have recently launched a handbag-friendly My Little Sudocrem for people to use on-the-go.

Boots and online supermarket Ocado are selling the 22g pocket-size Sudocrem for £3 but if you are looking to get one for the house, then it’s best to go for the tub size – a 125g tub is retailed at £3.75 and a bigger 400g is available to buy for £7.50.

The healing cream can provide soothing relief. Caring for everything from acne, eczema and even sunburn.

Acne

Acne flare-ups are frustrating for teenagers and adults alike, but the zinc oxide in Sudocrem acts as a soothing anti-inflammatory agent to help alleviate redness and swelling, which is great for treating any blemishes. Its gentle formulation also contains Benzyl alcohol, a mild local anaesthetic, to help alleviate discomfort.

Eczema

Eczema flare-ups can be uncomfortable to live with, it can be painful, itchy and causes frustration and anxiety. Sudocrem contains hypoallergenic lanolin, which helps provide emollient properties to soothe sore inflamed skin whilst leaving the skin feeling soft.

It can also calm irritations and manage eczema flare-ups.

Cuts and Grazes

Accidents and mishaps are inevitable and if you suffer paper cuts or graze yourself whether you’re at home or out, Sudocrem can be handy to have around. Treat the wound by cleaning it before applying a thin layer of Sudocrem to cover the wounded area so it forms a protective barrier to prevent infection and help the skin repair and heal.

Sunburn

No one likes the uncomfortable pain of sunburn, but Sudocrem can take some of the sting away. It contains zinc oxide which helps to reduce redness, and it includes a local anaesthetic to help ease pain and irritation.

And remember, a minimum of SPF30 sun protection is always recommended whether it’s sunny or not, it’s the first step to anti-ageing and keeping your skin away from free radical damage.

Chafing

Irritation caused by chafing can lead you to feeling sore and frustrated, but did you know Sudocrem can help your skin to heal? It contains a mild local anaesthetic, Benzyl alcohol, which helps to alleviate discomfort, so you can manage the burning and pain associated with chafing.

Sudocrem can also be used as a protective barrier to guard against irritants and any further friction.

Another social media craze is “Sudocrem slugging” – to lather your face with a thick layer of Sudocrem and let it sink into your face for at least 10 minutes. The aim is to reduce water loss from the skin, help maintain skin moisture and improve hydration.

But Sudocrem slugging might not be suitable if you have oily skin or bad acne as it can make it worse. Your skin can get irritated if you do it over-exfoliating products or retinol products.

A good alternative would be the Astral moisturiser, £9.76 for 500ml, it’s an intense moisturiser loved by actress Joanna Lumley. She has been using it for decades and it has become her skincare staple for hydration.

According to Daily Star, Joanna said: ” She said: “I’ve been using Astral for 40 years as a moisturiser, cleanser and hand cream. It comes in a little blue pot, cheap as chips – adore! It has never been tested on animals, and is about the only thing I’ve never developed an allergy to.”
