Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League as Pep Guardiola faces the unprecedented scenario of attempting to end a four-game losing run in all competitions.
The champions were stunned by Brighton before the international break to leave City trailing Liverpool by five points. Guardiola’s side have also lost to Bournemouth and Sporting, in an extraordinary spell of results that began with defeat against Tottenham in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup last month.
Guardiola’s decision to sign a new two-year contract has lifted the mood, but Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will be looking to deepen the sense of crisis at the Etihad. Tottenham are under pressure to secure a result themselves, having been beaten by Ipswich before the international break.
It continued Tottenham’s inconsistent season, so what version of Tottenham will turn up as they take on the champions away from home? Follow live updates from Manchester City vs Tottenham in our live blog, below.

Ake for Stones is the half-time change for Man City, who are 52 without defeat here.
We’re underway for the second half.

It was already a historic run – in a negative sense – for Guardiola last time out. Could it really go to five?

HT – City 0-2 Spurs
Half time and City are shellshocked here. They were totally dominant for 15 minutes, should have scored once or twice…and then found themselves two goals down.
What can Guardiola provide at the break?

Three minutes added on. The home fans sounding very displeased at present, impatient when their team don’t get the ball in the box but also at Spurs slowing the game down a bit.
Walker goes in on Maddison forcefully and is lucky to escape without a booking.

Vicario continues amid boos from the home crowd. He was caught higher than that by Savinho so perhaps the landing jarred his foot somewhat.
Silva gives the ball away twice in a few seconds, Kulusevski does well once more and Sarr bends a shot well over the crossbar.
Son then has a shooting chance after being played in by the Swede, who has been excellent so far this evening, but he cuts inside instead and is blocked out by three defenders.

Vicario goes down again and needs attention.
Richard Jolly at the Emirates: “A very happy birthday so far for James Maddison, even if City’s celebrations of Pep Guardiola’s new contract and Rodri’s Ballon d’Or are falling a bit flat. Guardiola’s latest attempt to compensate for Rodri’s absence has been to play a 4-4-1-1 formation. Phil Foden is finding space as a No 10. The problem for City is that they, without Rodri, they have not tracked Maddison when he has scored. It also feels a bit odd to see Rico Lewis, who could have been used in the middle of that midfield, instead out on the right.”

Almost a chance, almost a mistake. A lofted pass sees Porro head back toward Vicario but short – the goalkeeper has to rush out to get there before Savinho, who catches him with a lofted boot, but just a foul no card.
Guardiola in conversation on the bench with his coaches – that new two-year deal hasn’t made any immediate change to City’s fortunes.

City are having plenty of joy in buildup play down the left and Gvardiol again delivers a nice ball into the box – Savinho’s diving header is tipped away by Vicario and he’s offside anyway.
Udogie now gives away a bit of a needless free-kick on the right and Foden has the chance to deliver…all the way across and out for a goal kick.

City try to press Spurs high up but Davies and Maddison just about do enough to play past it. Kulusevski then leads the counter and pulls it across towards Son six yards out – but he’s on his heels and Walker just about gets there first to clear.
Son then plays a reverse pass to feed in Solanke who rifles a shot in on goal – tipped over by Ederson.
