Hunter Schafer Just Wore the Platonic Ideal of a Spring Outfit

Did Hunter Schafer just invent florals for spring? She very well may have, judging by how hard she rocked her latest look in Cannes.

Schafer is attending the Cannes Film Festival to promote her film, Yorgos Lanthimos’s Kinds of Kindness. But while the premiere is still forthcoming, the actor made time for other activities—and fabulous outfits—in the French Riviera.

Last night, Schafer cut an ultra-feminine figure at the Nespresso x Brut party. She donned an off-the-shoulder corset and ruched midi skirt from Vivienne Westwood’s spring 2024 collection. The corset, with its heart-shaped neckline, pays homage to Westwood’s original Sunday dress from the Anglomania years, which the late designer based on the British Aristocracy and the “Sunday best” dress code. The skirt, with its gathered fabric, emphasizes Schafer’s figure.

Both pieces are in spring 2024’s folk flower print, which paint a lively portrait of a multicolored garden. The florals are an interpretation of the hand-painted Austrian boxes that inspired Westwood in the 1980s. And, in a sweet nod to Westwood, her signature orb emblem is embedded throughout the print. Schafer’s stylist, Dara Allen, paired the sweet and sexy skirt set with a pair of pale yellow and white slingbacks from Roger Vivier. The custard color harmonized with the lighter flowers in the Westwood print.

Leave it to Hunter Schafer to deliver the perfect spring outfit inspiration—and one loaded with so much history. We’re on the edge of our seats to see what she has in store throughout the rest of the Cannes Film Festival.
