Hunter Schafer is always going to do things her way.
The actor emerged today at the Cannes Film Festival, ahead of the Kinds of Kindness premiere. Schafer joins a buzzy cast including Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons, and Joe Alwyn in director Yorgos Lanthimos’s latest film—which has been kept highly under wraps.
But while we may not know much about the most recent entrant to Lanthimos’s oeuvre, we do know that Schafer will serve up another sumptuous red carpet look. The star was joined in the French Riviera by her stylist, Dara Allen, who has helped facilitate a hit parade of red carpet looks, from 3D Marni to Schiaparelli couture.
The day before her premiere, Schafer offered up a lowkey look that still harkened back to the days of Old Hollywood glamour—albeit with a trademarked twist. The actor wore a simple base look: an oversized black leather jacket over an oatmeal sweater, a pair of cuffed straight-legged jeans, and a black leather shoulder bag. When it came to her head, Schafer nodded to incognito movie star style in a cream-colored scarf tied around her head and a pair of black rectangular shades.
But on her feet, Schafer added some pizzaz. A fan of Maison Margiela tabis, she donned a pair of well-worn tabi Mary-Janes. While the split-toe shoe is already eye-catching on its own, Schafer injected even more of her own personal style with a pair of multicolor striped socks.
If Hunter Schafer’s funky sock and shoe combo betrays any indication, we’re in for another thrilling red carpet.
