Back in the old days, you just had to guess and wonder what the ravages of time might do to your face.
But now there are all kinds of apps and filters you can use to get a sense of what you might look like if you’re lucky enough to live to a grand old age.
Grant Denyer and his wife Chezzi had the internet in stitches on Thursday when they posted a hilarious video to Grant’s Instagram account.
They’ve begun podcasting – and applied an ageing filter so their fans and followers can get a glimpse of what they might look like in their twilight years.
The results were incredibly realistic – and totally adorable.
“We started podcasting to keep us young,” Grant says in the caption.
“If you haven’t heard ‘It’s All True?’ yet … you’re in for a laugh, cry & ride … It also comes with a free prostate check and ambulance subscription.”
In the accompanying video, an aged Grant, with deep wrinkle lines and receding grey hair, sports a colourful Hawaiian shirt.
Chezzi looks elegantly elderly in a yellow blouse with silvery hair and striking red lipstick.
“Is this how long we’ve been doing this podcast for?” Grant jokes in the video.
“Is this what we’re gonna look like when we’re older? Why do you look better than me?”
“I don’t, look, I’ve got no lips!” Chezzie laughs.
“We feel like a couple of old swingers from Florida!” Grant quipped.
“I can’t get over how real it looks … bloody whippa-snappas [sic] and their face apps,” Chezzi noted in the comments.
Followers had a field day in the comments section, with some saying elderly Grant looked like Young Talent Time’s Johnny Young and others saying he resembled Sale of the Century’s Tony Barber.
“This is so good,” motorsports presenter and recent SAS Australia contestant Riana Crehan noted.
“Your older future selves look quite good, you’ll both age well,” another follower observed.
“The new Bert and Patty!” one person said.
“I hope you both get to look that lovely,” one fan added.
“It’s a privilege to grow old that unfortunately not everyone gets.
“I think it’s just beautiful… and funny!”
