Australia’s first vegan pub offers cheeky twist on high tea

Bhavani Baumann first made headlines in May when she transformed The Chippendale Hotel in Sydney, affectionately known as The Chippo into Australia’s first all-vegan pub.

She is turning heads again, launching a limited vegan low tea menu, offering a playful twist on the classic high tea.

The menu will feature vegan bite-sized classics including mini pies, sausage rolls, Aussie burgers and lamington pavlovas.

Sydneysiders can also expect jaffles, scones with strawberry Shiraz gin jam, caramel slices, cheesy-mite scrolls and baked bean cheesy toasties.

For Baumann, who also owns Mama B’s, the bistro next door, finding new, exciting ways to bring communities together and celebrate great vegan food is important.

“The low tea menu is a playful twist on traditional high teas, offering a fun, relaxed, indulgent alternative … and has been crafted with only the most iconic Aussie and pub food in mind,” she told 7NEWS.com.au.

The limited edition menu is available for $65 on Saturdays and Sundays for the month of June.
