Grant played the prime minister in the 2003 movie, which includes a scene in which he is seen dancing around the British PM’s official residence at 10 Downing St in London with The Pointer Sisters’ 1984 hit Jump as the soundtrack.

Shirvo, known for his love of giving anything a go, proved to be in the well and truly in the silly season as he recreated the dance moves in the Sunrise studio.

To the tune of Jump, Shirvo started swinging his hips on the desk, before moving into a shoulder shake for the camera.

As he continued, the Sunrise host proved he wasn’t a novice, as he jumped around the stairs at Seven’s Media City headquarters, before moving into the sprinkler move.

Remaining true to the film, Shirvo finished when he accidentally bumped into co-host Nat Barr, who did her part of playing Mary, Grant’s character’s assistant in the film.

“Nat, hi,” Shirvo said, laughing.

“Ah, the show,” Barr said.

On Friday, Barr introduced the clip on the show, after speaking about popular Christmas movies, including Home Alone, The Holiday, and Love Actually.

“Interesting Love Actually was only third because I’ve heard it’s your favourite. Actually, let’s take a look at why,” Barr said.

“You know, Hugh Grant has really flexible hips,” Shirvo said.

“This is good,” Barr said.

Shirvo said the idea came from Sunrise Executive Producer Jake Lyle.

“Our Sunrise boss, Jake Lyle, had an idea in his head and had to bring it to life,” Shirvo said.

“So good,” Barr added.

“It was actually really fun to do,” Shirvo said.

The clip has received nearly 10,000 likes on Sunrise’s Instagram, with viewers also happy with Shirvo’s moves.

“Best thing on socials this month,” one viewer wrote.

“Love Shirvo. Such a lovely and fun man,” another added.

“Shirvo. Absolutely love this re-enactment,” a third said.
