Who says bathrobes need to stay at home? Rihanna is making the case that the fresh-out-of-the-shower look can absolutely make for eveningwear.
At the close of London Fashion Week, the singer and entrepreneur stopped by Selfridges to celebrate the launch of Fenty Hair. For the occasion, Rih wore a glamorous take on the bathrobe—a custom iteration of the opening look from Simone Porte Jacquemus’s fall 2024 collection, “La Casa,” no less. The pale yellow off-the-shoulder piece is embroidered with recycled feathers, giving it a fluffy look.
With styling help from Jahleel Weaver, Rihanna brought her Jacquemus bathrobe from getting ready territory to pure formalwear. She added a pair of gold pointy-toe heels with a bejeweled ankle strap and dangling earrings. Never one to leave any stone unturned, she even matched her trendy butter-yellow manicure to her dress.
Rihanna isn’t the only person to rubber-stamp the formal bathrobe lately. At the Cannes Film Festival, juror Isabelle Huppert hit the Horozion: An American Saga red carpet in a Balenciaga bathrobe dress. While Rih is all for the off-the-shoulder look lately, Demna designed the French actor’s dress with an elevated collar.
As Rihanna and Isabelle Huppert are proving, perhaps the next big eveningwear trend was right under our noses this entire time.
